Hey people guess what I am 10 months old! Yup that's right only 2 more months and I'll be partying like a one year old! Don't worry I have already given my mom my guest list, & I am sure you are on it, it's going to be the party of the year (well my year at least)!

So yesterday I turned 10 months old & I told my mom that I wanted to play in my pj's! Here I have my paci, which I really love. I think my mom is worried about weening me off it & I told her not to worry about it, I'll hang on to until I go off to college.

I think I am pretty fashionable for a 10 month old. I like to sport the one sock look. My mom tries to put both socks on but I always insist that I only wear one...maybe one day she'll get that it is the cool thing to do!

So even though yesterday was my 10 month old birthday I was still having to go through teething & man o man does it hurt. It feels good when I put things in my mouth.

Oh and did I mention that I love to cruise around our furniture. I am pretty sure I am going to be walking on my own soon, I am just taking my time because I don't think my mom & dad are ready! You can tell I am really fast because my feet are blurry :)

So I am sure I'll be seeing most of you soon on my big one year party, until then take care!

Hi, my name is Walker & I am 8 months old today!

I enjoy long stroller rides in the park.
I have fabulous curly locks, which are quickly turning blonde, just like my daddy!
My eyes are a mixture of hazel & grey blue, depends on what fashion I am sporting.
My mode of transportation is crawling.
I enjoy pulling up on things & discovering the world through taste. Some of my favorites, my mom would call them "no's", power cords, tables, stainless steel oven handles, & an occasional neck, nose or collarbone. I dabble daily in traditional things such as peas, carrots, prunes, green bean, apples, etc.
I enjoy crawling very fast towards these things while I scrunch my nose & make snorting noise & my mom chases me. (see below)
All in all I am an easy going kind of guy, with a smile that will melt your heart!

I cannot believe half of a year has passed since our precious little boy was born. He is growing before our eyes so quickly. My heart overflows with love and amazement & I feel so blessed to be his mommy!

Ahhh the life of a mom, you never know where it will lead you. One moment it's smiles and coos, the next it's tears and fits of rage. Today I had all of these jewels and then some.

We started the day with a morning walk before the heat settled in the foothills...it was a lovely summer morning. We then met some friends to go swimming, Walker's first taste (not literally) of chlorine water. After figuring out that 3 kids and their car seats were not going to fit into one car we hoped into our separate cars and caravanned to the rec center. We fumbled into the rec center with 3 kids, car seat, and bags only to discover that the baby pool was closed for the afternoon! So we were off like turtles to caravan to the YMCA pool...after paying a ridiculous amount of money for me and yes my 4 and 1/2 month old baby were were finally poolside! Thankfully after about an hour of trying to get to the pool my little man enjoyed himself and looked pretty stinkin' cute in his swim trunks!

The rest of the day progressed as usual...then 5:00 rolled around and I had one of my firsts. I was folding W's clothes and I heard the explosion, actually I thought it was a noise he made with his mouth, but no it was his bum. About a minute or two later I picked him up and noticed the pool of poop in the lime green bumbo chair. I then noticed the same poop all over my shirt, arm, his leg, his onesie, and of course leaking out of his diaper! So I did my motherly duties and cleaned up the doody. After he was all clean I laid him on his play mat, where he immediately rolled over. As I was cleaning up in the kitchen I heard the dreaded noise again. I walk over and roll him on to his back to see if he had messed his pants again, but instead I see this:

Summer has officially arrived and I have officially been smiling while wearing my flip flops! Of course I might be singing a different tune tomorrow since the high is supposed to be 98, oh and did I mention that our swamp cooler isn't "cooling"?! It was a beautiful weekend filled with blue skies and fluffy white dream clouds.

Took sometime to take in the sun, of course in the shade with the little one, on Saturday!

I tried to tap into my inner child and find animals in the clouds :)

I recently acquired a macro lens...boy do I love it!

Snowy Wonderland

It's been snowing here non stop since late last night & is supposed to continue until tomorrow evening! It is so beautiful and fluffy! I love watching (from inside) the delicate snow quickly accumulate covering everything in a thick blanket of white powder. Corrina & I played for a bit outside where I was able to snap some fun pics! Enjoy the winter wonderland:

Yes, the long & torturous kitchen remodel is DONE!!! It has been done for a while, thank goodness, but because the level of involvement it required of our lives I needed a break from it. Hence the tardy post!

First, I just have to brag about what a bad ass my husband is! We found out I was pregnant right before we started the remodel so the weight of the project doubled in size for him. A lot of the stuff I was going to be doing fell on his shoulders. He did an amazing job & now we have a beautiful, functioning kitchen that we can be proud of. Thanks Nat, you are amazing, & look great in a tool belt :)

Cabinets, ugh the freaking cabinets! Believe it or not that was what took us the longest, very tedious! After taking all of the cabinets off the walls & the doors off the cabinets we had to heat gun everything to aid the scraping process which was a very slow & hot process. We then scraped off as much paint as possible, sanded the boogers, cleaned them off with a good sponge bath, 2 coats of primer, & then finally 2 coats of paint inside, outside, top, & bottom! Ugh the cabinets, but they look GOOD!

we had some assistance one weekend from some good friends, thanks scotland's!

As most of you know now, we are expecting our first due 1.22.2010! We are very excited & can hardly wait his arrival! It has been amazing to see him kick, flip, & fold on the sonogram screen. I can't imagine what it will be like to see him do all of these tricks in person!

Proof that we are having a boy, I still have a little trouble making it out, but I am going to trust the experts on this one :)

Last weekend Nat & I headed to Texas, one last time, to see little miss katie comiskey marry justin scott and of course to hang in the ole casa one last time before my parents made their move to Sacramento!

Katie's wedding was a wedding planners dream (way to go Toni & Katie)! No detail was left untouched or unplanned. I am sure if Martha Stewart could see pics of this wedding she would foam at the mouth. Not to mention to bride was absolutely beautiful! Congrats to Justin & Katie! For Christmas, Nat, Marcus, Emily, & I gave my parents a family photo shoot as their gift! It was a fun time, especially for me running back and forth each shot & checking the focus, light meter, and composition and all back again & again after the shutter release timer went off! I am beginning to think the $600 for the wireless remote might have been worth it...well maybe not?! Here are a few of my favorite shots!

Today it snowed and snowed and snowed with a high of about 18 degrees, Yes winter is here! But the lovely thing about the Denver Metro area, it is going to be in the 50's this weekend and sunny!

Whew, November flew by for me, don't know about you guys?! Now homes are being adorned with holiday lights and the snow is beginning to fall! November was a big month for us!

First it was my birthday on the 9th! Which I was able to celebrate with my wonderful friends! We actually went skiing the day before and followed it up with a duo celebration for Tim's birthday and my birthday! Good times!

Then on the 14th I had my opening at the Lovely Boutique in Old Towne Arvada! Again, my wonderful and supportive friends were there for me! Gotta love them! Thanks to Matt who helped me hang everything for the show, couldn't have done it without you!!!

I was able to do a few gallery wraps and framed prints for the show!

And of course last, but not least my marvelous friends!

And then there was Turkey day! This was the first Thanksgiving where we didn't have to drive to one of our hometown's...which was really nice! We had a few friends over and had a fab time! I have new found respect for my mom and what it takes to "time" everything! Whew, craziness.

I was so busy cooking all day I really didn't get any pictures of our friends, just the food. And then even worse I was so worried about if my stuffing was too moist I didn't get a picture of the turkey that Nat smoked all day long, mmmm!

This year we threw a "we're all broke" Halloween party. The rules were that you had to make something from what you already had at your house or wear an old costume...you could not spend money on your costume. The end result...a night full of FUN!

Saturday Nat, Corrina, & I took a scenic drive up Guanella Pass to view the aspens changing to their vibrant fall color; yellow!

It was amazing to see the stark yellow popping out from the dark evergreens. Truly a day spent in awe of mother nature and her luring spectacle named fall.

Even though it was raining we couldn't help but get out of the car a frolic around in the aspen forest.

I asked my on-staff geologist, Nat, why the rocks appeared to be white. His answer,"mineral deposits" My response, "oh cool!" The rocks had a variety of colors/minerals deposited on them:

Little Creatures in Gold Hill

A few weeks ago we made the journey up the mountain to see our good friends Brian and Lucy in Gold Hill. I have realized it is one of my favorite places to go because I get to see great friends and be in a truly peaceful place. The girls were taking a walk around downtown Gold Hill, something we have done time and time before, but this time we ran into a resident that put a whole new light on the town. Evidently, there are these tiny little clay creatures tucked away in every nook and cranny that the town offers. Clay creatures I have walked by time and time again without even blinking or noticing something was peering out at me. What are these "clay creatures"? They are the cones used in a kiln to fire ceramics (to make sure the temp. is correct and to know when they are surely done) with a cute little face on them. If you have ever personally fired something in a kiln you know what I am talking about (sorry non-artists) The clay creature creator is a retired Boulder art teacher who after 30 years of firing in the kiln had quite the collection of these little guys. So he and his daughter walked around town and secretly put them in inconspicuous places. I even got to bring home a little guy with me!

My Mom...

I haven't blogged about this because it has been a very hard topic for me to swallow. My mom has been having issues with her heart for a couple of years now and after demanding the doctors do something about it, they of course found blockage. With her family history (mom, dad, & brother died because of heart issues) her intuition was spot on & her efforts might have saved her life. Doctors continually dismissed her because of her age and her good health. So here is an update of her angiogram process today.....

My mom had her angiogram early this morning. I received a phone call from my dad around 9:40 central time saying that the procedure went well and that the doctors got some "good information". My mom was still in her room and he had not seen her. The doctor confirmed the blockage, plaque, & shrinkage & will hopefully have a more thorough synopsis sometime today.

Unfortunately, that is all the info I have now, but I will be sure to keep you guys updated.

UPDATE 2: 11:00 am Central: I just received a call from my mom :-) She is doing ok, I think she is a sore, cloudy from the meds, & anxious because she has to lay flat on her back without moving for a couple more hours. She said that they had to try both legs to get the instrument inserted properly because her veins are very small, first the right and then success with the left side. Good news first, the LAD artery has only 20-25% blockage. However, due to her small veins it was discovered that some of her arteries are also very small. In one artery she has 75% blockage. Because it is so small the doctors are not sure how to approach it yet, so they are sending in a specialist. We should know within a few hours how the team of doctors are planning to approach fixing this artery.

UPDATE 3: The specialist decided that they are going to try with meds, exercise and diet to maintain a healthy life for my mom. If this does not work and she is still having pains they will do open heart surgery. I really hope they can control the blockage and pains with these things!

Thank you everyone for their support, I really appreciate it more than I can put into words. I have some really great friends!

¡So here it is my post about the girl's trip to beautiful Costa Rica! I would have to say that I absolutely fell in love with the country...the people, the weather, the landscape, the food, the way of life! I think if Nat & Corrina were with me I would have stayed! So here goes, 9 days in paradise produces a lot of pictures! When you are done reading my view of costa rica head on over to emily's blog and my mom's blog!

We stayed in the town Playa Conchal, located on the Pacific Gulf Coast, at Paradisus as Royal Service guests...ya I could get used to that!

Playa Conchal was awesome! Emily & I (mom a few nights) danced our hearts out at the disco and enjoyed meeting people from all over! We were sad to leave but excited for our next destination! We headed inland for the Arenal Volcano to the next resort, Tabacon!

Emily and I went white water rafting and had a blast! We were able to see a lot of cool wildlife on our journey as well:

The next day we all went zip lining which was such a rush! There were a series of different lines all 200 meters above the canopy and the longest one was over a 1/2 mile long! We had to take a 15 minute open air gondola ride to get to the first zip line, this was the view:

Every afternoon we headed to the natural hot springs, heated by the volcano! It was soooo relaxing, I wish I could have one in my back yard!

And of course the nature was awesome!

Some locals: the guy on the left, a pisoto, I was able to hand feed one of these guys. He grabbed my hand with his claws and took the honey roasted peanut right out of my hand.

Turning 29 with a BANG!

My wonderful husband celebrated his 29th birthday yesterday...happy birthday! Wait, before you start thinking I am a horrible wife for not posting a best wishes post on his actual birthday there are a few things you need to know. Nat took the day off yesterday and decided to go on a bike ride...but this wasn't his typical ride at White Ranch, let's just say he had a "little" crash! A crash where he caught himself with the right side of his face, a crash that broke his handle bars in half, a crash that required us to spend 5+ hours in the ER (of course only after I begged and pleaded for him to go), a crash that required 9 stitches in his right cheek bone where he had a gash (hole) in the mark of a X, a crash that damaged ligaments in his right shoulder, a crash that has made his right side of his mouth go numb, a crash that has given him a black eye, oh and did I mention all the scrapes on his face, shoulder, fingers, legs, & that he is still coughing up blood? So here's to Nat bringing in his 29th year with a bang!

Here are a few pics after he drove himself home....oh and the crash happened at the top of the mountain so he had to ride his bike down, bleeding, with broken handle bars, meaning only one brake....

This fourth we journeyed up the mountain to visit our friends, Brian & Lucy, at their home in Gold Hill. We always have a great time in Gold Hill....beautiful surroundings, great food, & wonderful friends, what more could you ask for?!

Saturday was a momentous day for our friends!

Michael & Nicholee gave birth to their first child: Trevor Levi | weighing 8 lb. 3 oz., 20 in. long! CONGRATS!!!

Danielle & Garrett tied the knot! This is the only pic I have of them, sorry! Congrats guys!

And we celebrated our good friend Alex who is moving to Montana! We're happy for him, but we will miss him! Here he is with his girl Sarah sometime in March. The only picture I have from Saturday night is the 15 pounds of meat Matt smoked :-)

A Tardy Post...

It seems when I go out of town for some reason or another I take a lot of pictures, which in turn means, I have a lot of pictures to filter through & edit. Resulting in a quite delayed post of the events. Maybe it's because I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my photography & I cannot possibly let anyone see one of my photos without spending some time with it in photoshop. I am definitely my own worst critic, which can lead to hours sitting in front of my computer tinkering in photoshop....something my back & eyes are not grateful for. By the time I finished editing I am exhausted and cannot think of anything clever to say in my posts. With that said, here goes one big weekend.......

Went to Mississippi to see little Zachary get married! Congratulations to Zach & Marcie! This is them during their first dance!

But before we went to Mississippi for the wedding we flew into New Orleans to drive to the wedding only a few hours away. Here is New Orleans through my eyes:

One of my favorite stops in New Orleans (for photographic reasons) was not bourbon street or the french quarter, it was a little cigar shop. It is SOOOOO humid in New Orleans that the shop did not have to have a humidor, which is almost never heard of...a cigar shop with NO humidor!

Instead of heading straight back to Denver I headed home, to my parents house! While I was there I was able to squeeze in a few photo sessions!

**Update: Stephanie was able to sit up for the first time yesterday, hopefully she will be able to move out of ICU today. Her husband arrived and has lifted her spirits. Thank you for all of your prayers.***

Stephanie Berney Dezern was hit by a drunk driver last night...she has been in ICU ever since. She is currently suffering a punctured lung, bruised liver, torn diaphragm, broken & cracked ribs, broken pelvis & broken teeth. The reason for this post....please pray for Stephanie & her family. Her husband, Shaun, has been training in the desert and is being flown in by the red cross in the next 24 hours. Her 6 month old daughter, Brooklyn is being looked after by her family.

I just saw Stephanie on Wednesday and was fortunate to take pictures of her & brooklyn....here are a few to put a face to the person you are praying for. Stephanie has grown into a beautiful woman and incredible & gentle mom...please pray for her speedy recovery!

Ahh Young Love in Austin

Nat and I just returned from Austin this past weekend, we were there to celebrate Craig & Lisa wedding! It was a super fun time and we were glad to be a part of the celebration! In true Texas form the weather gave quite the show. Friday night during the rehearsal dinner we rushed inside from our beautiful patio seating to avoid the colossal rain and hail storm. It was quite spectacular and I enjoyed the rush of weather for nostalgic reasons, however I am sure the people that suffered hail damage to their cars would disagree.

Saturday, the day of the wedding, was steaming hot! I know the guys really enjoyed the sauna like atmosphere in their suits! Mother Nature gave Lisa & Craig's union a hot stamp of approval, we all had red shoulders and faces to prove it! Now let's talk about what is really important about any wedding...the bride's dress! Lisa looked like a goddess in her flowing dress that her boss hand made for her, it was truly impressive and she looked beautiful as she floated down the aisle...oh ya Craig looked pretty good too! Congratulations to Lisa and Craig!

Spring's a knockin...

Most people that read this blog the season of spring is in full swing...The sun is out, flowers are blooming, birds chirping, vivid blue skies, flip flops, tank tops (hopefully female only), and maybe an occasional sneeze due to the pollen floating around. However, here in the rockies we're struggling to see signs of spring. With the large snow storm we had on Thursday (1.5 inches) my hopes and dreams of the warm spring drifted away with each snowflake that fell. Yes, maybe I am being a little dramatic but I am ready to frolic around in my flip flops and tank tops and flowing spring skirts! The hope of spring is definitely in the air...with a few buds popping out here and there, lawn mowers humming, and the soundtrack of the ice cream man circling my neighborhood we can only be hopeful.

Along with the flowers and green grass weddings are in full swing as well! Last weekend we headed out Chicago to see Erin & Todd tie the knot! Nat was one of Todd's groomsmen and I was along for the ride. We both had an absolute blast, the wedding and reception were super fun and we had fun hanging out with old and new friends! We have 2 more weddings this month and we are on pause until October. Unfortunately, we are also missing 2 weddings...ahhh love is in the air! Congrats to Todd and Erin!!

I decided to make a collage of the beautiful daffodils that are blooming in our front yard. It was too hard to just pick one! The bulbs were a housewarming gift from Bill & Marcia...we have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the spring daffodils!

The other day I decided to treat myself and buy a trial tea bag of jasmine green tea...the tea was pretty good, but the process of steeping was the best. It was delicately sewn into a little ball and after 5 minutes of steeping the ball of green tea slowly opened to reveal a jasmine bud...ohhh it smelled heavenly! Jasmine has to be one of my favorite scents. NE ways this has really nothing to do with the rest of the blog, but I wanted to show you that stopping into one of those fancy tea shops can turn out to be kind of fun!

First, the Vintage Series:
My vintage series is a type of treasure hunt. In today’s unfortunate race for materialistic perfection things that are old or weathered are not desired. I enjoy finding these things that modern hands have not touched or destroyed. With each crack or paint chip they hold memories of times past. My treasure has a history, it has character, it is original, and therefore unique.

Second, My Simplicity in Nature Series

Nature/landscape photography is sometimes overwhelming because the environment itself is so vast and elaborate. With all of the components in nature (trees, leaves, grass, mountains, flowers) a nature/landscape photograph can be overpowering and its’ beauty can be lost. In this series I decided to focus simply on one component of scenery at a time. Instead of taking the whole picture I am focusing on all the little parts of nature that make it grand and majestic.

And probably the hardest one to understand The Alpha Series:
My alpha series is a search for unique letters. I tend to gravitate towards the weathered and imperfect, however you will find a few shiny & new letters mixed in. Some letters are new and modern while others have vintage character.

Spell it out:
I enjoy this series because these images stand-alone or look great in a gathering. Spell out a special word or your name to hang in your home or office. Regardless of what you decide to do the possibilities are endless.

Moab, Utah

Nat & I went to Moab a couple of weeks ago! Nat had to go on business, so I decided to tag along and have fun with the many photo opportunities the town has to offer. It has taken me a while to post because it has been quite the chore to filter through the 700+ pics I captured! So I am tired and I am going to use as little words as possible...

The first day I went to arches national park....that place is incredible! I hiked to different arches and natural wonders!

The next day I scouted out the Indian Petroglyphs:

The 3rd day I did an amazing hike to Corona Arch. It was a beautiful hike to an amazing arch. Corona Arch is so large a man once flew his plane through it!

When hiking you are lead by cairns, which are just native rock stacked. So sometimes finding your way can be a little confusing, especially when there are rocks scattered everywhere:

The next day with Nat in tow we went back to the arches national park, where we saw the infamous delicate arch & the window arches.

The final day we were there we went to Canyonlands: Island in the Sky Park where we saw Indian ruins and canyons the went forever:

While I was there I feel in love with the driftwood, the trunks are so amazing how they twist and turn: & the bark is full of character:

Another thing I was amazed with while walking through the desert was the abundance of life it held. When you think of the desert you think of it being anything but full of life:

I think that about sums it up. There is so much to see there it is incredible! I know I did not do it justice with just these few pics! But lets be honest who has time to upload that many pics?

I have an excuse...

Yes, I know it's been a while...but I have a perfect and forgiving excuse, which is: my nose was broken and I had to get it fixed! And let me tell you the break didn't hurt too bad, but the surgery hurt like hell and I am still too familiar with the fact that I can feel my nose on my face and it's every ache with every turn I make. Through this process I had a hard time dealing with the fact that people do this to themselves on purpose...plastic surgery....my motto if it ain't broke then don't fix it!!!

Before all of the nose surgery drama I had a nice visit with the fam in Texas! It was a spur of the moment trip: booked my flight on Wed. for a Friday departure, that is what I call last minute! While I was there I had the pleasure of taking my cousin, Blake's, senior portraits on Saturday. We had fun, well at least my aunt & I did, running around town finding cool places to shoot and making Blake suffer through...life's tough! Here are a few of my favs:

Sunday, was fun filled as well! I got to see my sis-in-law, Emily, kick some major butt on the soccer field. This was my first time to see her play. I can finally confirm the rumors of her bad assness on the field, she is amazing! She plays on a co-ed team and scored 3 goals and had 2 assists! SHE ROCKS!!

Then I was fortunate to "join" my parents on their anniversary dinner to Rough Creek Lodge, where my brother reigns in the kitchen! What a feast...5 course dinner paired with wines! 1. Lobster Tail in a coconut curry sauce, & whipped sweet potatoes; paired with bubbly 2. Swordfish & mushroom rissoto; paired with a white wine with a hint of grapefruit 3. Quail; paired with a red wine 4. Beef tenderloin with asparagus & whipped potatoes; paired with a red wine 5. Dessert: Me: chocolate tart with honey almond ice cream, Mom: Banana Custard in a flaky crust, Dad: a cheese plate! We all had to be rolled out of there, but it was worth it! Marcus is an amazing chef that needs to move to Colorado!!!!!

Monday Marcus actually had the day off so I got to spend some time with my little bro, which was a super treat! We dined in down-town Ft. Worth at a brick oven pizza place and then walked around a bit in Sundance Square! Then we just hung out at my parents house doing all kinds of things, shooting Marcus' bebe gun, washing his car, and playing basketball! Then we cooked our parents dinner, where Marcus taught me how to chop like a chef, watch out!

It was a great trip, it's always nice to spend time with the fam! I wasn't too excited about returning home, other than to see my husband, because I had my surgery. But the plastic things are out of my nose, my stitches are out, and my external cast is off! Now I just need to swelling to go down and the awareness of my nose on my face to go away!

Our Valentine's Day

I am not one that really loves Valentine's Day, it's definitely what they call a Hallmark holiday. It's depressing for those who are single (we've all been there) & it's frustrating for those who are in a relationship because restaurants are booked/crowded, etc. However, with that said I had a totally ROCKING V-day this year. One of our favorite groups was in town and they just so happened to be playing on V-day...Rodrigo y Gabriela! Most likely you have not heard of them: Rodrigo y Gabriela are a duo of amazing guitarists. From Mexico City, with a background in Heavy Metal, they have joined forces to become an amazing duo that really knows how to wow a crowd with their fast and hard spanish sound! This was our second time to see them and we were still amazed at their skills!

When they first come on everyone is excited and we all start screaming, Rod y Gab start to play and the roars are intensified! Throughout the concert you get excited, clap, scream, jump around, and then there are moments you stand there with you mouth wide open in amazement of how quickly Gabriela's hands are moving, how hard she is banging on the guitar, how quickly Rodrigo is picking, or their perfect synchronization! Truly astounding!

They are a little bit more lively in concert than the are on tv....so just imagine the crowd clapping along, feeling the beat of the guitar in your chest, Rodrigo y Gabriela screaming along, & the volume WAY louder....

Childhood Memories

I was out taking photos last week for the project I am currently working on and stumbled across this opportunity. I actually took it as the reflection on my side mirror of my car, if that makes sense. I am not sure if I am done with this one or not, maybe some more time playing with it in photoshop, we'll see! I have titled this Childhood Memories...the washed out and blurry elements evoke the thought of a memory for me & the roller coaster reminds me of childhood. It is not your typical "pretty picture", but I still like it, so deal with it:

Keystone with the Beal's

The weekend before last Bruce, Jenny, & Alissa made a whirlwind trip to visit us and hit the slopes in Keystone! We were welcomed by beautiful fluffy snow and stark blue skies, not too shabby, yes I know life is VERY tough! It was a nice visit that involved cosmos, hot tubs, adventurous parking lot hikes, matching sweaters, and great food (as always)! Here are a few pics that Jenny snapped:

I went to pick up Alissa at the airport on Friday and I was wearing the sweater they picked out for me for my birthday, a sweater that Alissa liked as well (in a different color) don't worry I kept my jacket on and no one knew :-) I had a momentary flash back to the 6th grade!

Chasin' the Pow Pow

Powder Hounds: chasing the powder! And we did just that a couple of weeks ago, we were the powder hounds! We made a ski weekend of it by staying in the mountains! Let me paint you a picture: La Quinta, 5 people, 3 dogs, in one room, minutes from the slopes. To some that might sound a little crazy, but to others it sounds like heaven! It only seemed a little crazy when we were trying to sleep with the sounds of snoring, farting, & dogs collars clanging, but after a hard day of skiing and a stiff cocktail all those sounds sound like..........well the same, but are a little less annoying. Saturday Nat & I journeyed to Beaver Creek where we were met with a clear blue sky & powder up to our quads. Skiing in powder that deep is quite a feat & can be exhausting and exhilarating at the same time! We ventured into the trees where I learned how a double ejection face plant in powder feels, not too bad, but getting your skis back on is another story. Nat has pictures of my display, which I will get from him and post at a later date. Sunday we went skiing at Arapahoe Basin! Where the mountain is steep & the weather is always cold. But the great thing about A-Basin is the after skiing part! If you get there early enough you can park your car in the parking lot closest to the mountain....so after you are done you ski to your car, let the dogs out to run around the mountain, & fire up the grill! Ahhh life as a Coloradan ain't too bad!

Christmas 2007

Whoa, what a Christmas! This year we drove to Illinois, Nat's home, to celebrate Christmas! It was a fun packed holiday! Visiting with family, drinking with old friends, progressive parties, massages, food, dogs & cats, dog drooling over cat, fog, snow, presents, tea, cookies, holiday music; a good time had by all!

After driving back home we had a few hours rest before we were the Beal Bed & Breakfast once again to Nat's Aunt, Uncle, & their 2 boys. They left on Friday & only hours later my parents came in town! It was a quick visit & a mini Christmas, well really just Nat & I opening presents. Now sadly all company has left & we are preparing for our New Year's Party! Living life in the crazy busy lane, & loving it!

Words escape me on how to illustrate how great this Christmas holiday was, so I will explain as I know best, through pictures!

Fun in the Snow

It has been snowing a lot here, which is awesome! I love the tranquility that takes over the neighborhoods when it snows. The white fluffy blanket makes everything so peaceful, leaving only the squeak of the snow under your snow boots to disturb the silence. Here are a few pictures I took this weekend after it stopped snowing & the sun came out!

Corrina will hit 3rd gear when she is out prancing in the snow. All of the sudden balls become chase-worthy & our yard becomes a track for her tight circles sprints! My favorite is watching her run & then dip her nose in to the powder snow, coming up with snow on her nose and a little in her mouth for that much needed hydration.

There is a small grove of Aspens in our backyard. Most of the snow was melted away from the sun, but I love the stark white trunks against the teal blue of the mountain sky.

And of course what would a snowy day be without a snow laced pine?

Today I awoke to a winter white surprise! I think it might have been a surprise to the meteorologists as well, they failed to mention it yesterday morning! It was not much just about an inch, but it was nice to see since we missed the first snow due to Thanksgiving travels. The best part about it snowing in the metro area means that it is snowing in the mountains, which in turn means GREAT skiing! So you know what I will be doing this weekend...yeah! Here are a few pics I snapped before I was off to work, or rather snow surprise traffic, geez you would've thought we were in Texas with how slow the traffic was moving! Anyways enjoy!:

Thanksgiving Fun!

This Thanksgiving we went to my parents house. It was a fun & too short of a visit as usual. Although after the 13.5 hour drive yesterday all I can say is it is nice to be home and out of the car. We didn't actually celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving on Thursday because my brother, the chef, was cooking for about 250 people! Instead we went to my Aunt Laura's house & had a fun Thanksgiving of mexi food & ritas!! We did our traditional turkey & all the trimmings Thanksgiving on Saturday! Here are the pics:

Nat & Marcus wanted to have some fun so they built a potato gun! By the time it was completed it was dark, so Emily had the brilliant idea of the ever so fun glow stick. So basically we were shooting glowing green potatoes hundreds of feet into the air....ahh what fun!

Ashley came to visit last weekend for our 28th birthdays!!! We partied like it was 1999...actually that is true statement, because in 1999 we were in college living together & celebrating together, ahhh the good ole days! We had fun filled weekend including, spa treatments, a birthday bash party, shopping, & fine dinning. It was a great weekend spent with my great & wonderful friend Ashley!!! We made the journey up to Gold Hill yesterday to visit our friends Brian & Lucy! They recently have moved into a new home as well, it seems to be a trend. They live in a quaint old home sitting atop of a hill overlooking the small mining town of Gold Hill. I loved all the ornate detail the old house offered, it is a lost art on homes today. I was only able to shoot a few pics as the light was quickly fading behind the mountains. As always it was great to see Brian & Lucy! Here are a few of my favorites:
