Chasin' the Pow Pow

Powder Hounds: chasing the powder! And we did just that a couple of weeks ago, we were the powder hounds! We made a ski weekend of it by staying in the mountains! Let me paint you a picture: La Quinta, 5 people, 3 dogs, in one room, minutes from the slopes. To some that might sound a little crazy, but to others it sounds like heaven! It only seemed a little crazy when we were trying to sleep with the sounds of snoring, farting, & dogs collars clanging, but after a hard day of skiing and a stiff cocktail all those sounds sound like..........well the same, but are a little less annoying. Saturday Nat & I journeyed to Beaver Creek where we were met with a clear blue sky & powder up to our quads. Skiing in powder that deep is quite a feat & can be exhausting and exhilarating at the same time! We ventured into the trees where I learned how a double ejection face plant in powder feels, not too bad, but getting your skis back on is another story. Nat has pictures of my display, which I will get from him and post at a later date. Sunday we went skiing at Arapahoe Basin! Where the mountain is steep & the weather is always cold. But the great thing about A-Basin is the after skiing part! If you get there early enough you can park your car in the parking lot closest to the mountain....so after you are done you ski to your car, let the dogs out to run around the mountain, & fire up the grill! Ahhh life as a Coloradan ain't too bad!

Christmas 2007

Whoa, what a Christmas! This year we drove to Illinois, Nat's home, to celebrate Christmas! It was a fun packed holiday! Visiting with family, drinking with old friends, progressive parties, massages, food, dogs & cats, dog drooling over cat, fog, snow, presents, tea, cookies, holiday music; a good time had by all!

After driving back home we had a few hours rest before we were the Beal Bed & Breakfast once again to Nat's Aunt, Uncle, & their 2 boys. They left on Friday & only hours later my parents came in town! It was a quick visit & a mini Christmas, well really just Nat & I opening presents. Now sadly all company has left & we are preparing for our New Year's Party! Living life in the crazy busy lane, & loving it!

Words escape me on how to illustrate how great this Christmas holiday was, so I will explain as I know best, through pictures!

Fun in the Snow

It has been snowing a lot here, which is awesome! I love the tranquility that takes over the neighborhoods when it snows. The white fluffy blanket makes everything so peaceful, leaving only the squeak of the snow under your snow boots to disturb the silence. Here are a few pictures I took this weekend after it stopped snowing & the sun came out!

Corrina will hit 3rd gear when she is out prancing in the snow. All of the sudden balls become chase-worthy & our yard becomes a track for her tight circles sprints! My favorite is watching her run & then dip her nose in to the powder snow, coming up with snow on her nose and a little in her mouth for that much needed hydration.


There is a small grove of Aspens in our backyard. Most of the snow was melted away from the sun, but I love the stark white trunks against the teal blue of the mountain sky.


And of course what would a snowy day be without a snow laced pine?

Snow!!!

Today I awoke to a winter white surprise! I think it might have been a surprise to the meteorologists as well, they failed to mention it yesterday morning! It was not much just about an inch, but it was nice to see since we missed the first snow due to Thanksgiving travels. The best part about it snowing in the metro area means that it is snowing in the mountains, which in turn means GREAT skiing! So you know what I will be doing this weekend...yeah! Here are a few pics I snapped before I was off to work, or rather snow surprise traffic, geez you would've thought we were in Texas with how slow the traffic was moving! Anyways enjoy!:

Thanksgiving Fun!

This Thanksgiving we went to my parents house. It was a fun & too short of a visit as usual. Although after the 13.5 hour drive yesterday all I can say is it is nice to be home and out of the car. We didn't actually celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving on Thursday because my brother, the chef, was cooking for about 250 people! Instead we went to my Aunt Laura's house & had a fun Thanksgiving of mexi food & ritas!! We did our traditional turkey & all the trimmings Thanksgiving on Saturday! Here are the pics:

Nat & Marcus wanted to have some fun so they built a potato gun! By the time it was completed it was dark, so Emily had the brilliant idea of the ever so fun glow stick. So basically we were shooting glowing green potatoes hundreds of feet into the air....ahh what fun!

Ashley came to visit last weekend for our 28th birthdays!!! We partied like it was 1999...actually that is true statement, because in 1999 we were in college living together & celebrating together, ahhh the good ole days! We had fun filled weekend including, spa treatments, a birthday bash party, shopping, & fine dinning. It was a great weekend spent with my great & wonderful friend Ashley!!! Here are a few moments captured from our fab weekend:

Brian & Lucy

We made the journey up to Gold Hill yesterday to visit our friends Brian & Lucy! They recently have moved into a new home as well, it seems to be a trend. They live in a quaint old home sitting atop of a hill overlooking the small mining town of Gold Hill. I loved all the ornate detail the old house offered, it is a lost art on homes today. I was only able to shoot a few pics as the light was quickly fading behind the mountains. As always it was great to see Brian & Lucy! Here are a few of my favorites:
