Green Thumb

The garden is doing great!!! Some failures, but the success of other veggies seems to out shine them. The salad was instantly gratifying, we are still clipping fresh salad mix from the garden, we can't eat it fast enough. Same with the basil. I made pesto this evening using the basil from the garden. It's been quite fun seeing things pop up. What has also been great is walking outside and getting whatever the recipe calls for while I am making dinner, no last minute trips to the grocery store!

An overview of the garden:

My amazing zucchini plant: I started this one from a seed in the ground.

The basil:

Down low with the salad mix. In the right background that is red potatoes & in the left background is the basil:

My picks for dinner this evening:

And finally my pride & joy, my first zucchini, it's 10.5 inches long:

WOW!!! Jackie...what a green thumb you have developed!! I love all the things you are getting out of your garden...how great is THAT!! I'm sure Marcus would love to be able to cruise through your garden and through something together...however, sounds like with you making your own pesto...he may not be the only chef in the family...AND that zucchini...that plant must love something in the Colorado soil!

Way to go...can we start calling you the Martha Stewart of the Rockies??? I mean after all she does it all, too!!

Love you forever,
Mom<><

Jackie,

We have never had the chance to meet yet, but since I am Laura's best friend and a friend of Teresa, I feel like I know you very well! I have been reading your blog for a year and have loved getting to know you better. I have entered into the world of blogging and wanted to try to leave you a comment in the new "blogging way"!

I must say Jackie, we are impressed! Marcus really wants to come harvest some yummies for a homemade dinner. It's just the gift that keeps on giving! P.S. I am trying really hard not to comment on the 10.5 comment, but it's hard!

I read on your mom's blog she is coming for a visit. On the heels of a fun-filled weekend with my mom, sister, and 2 nieces, I just want to say...Enjoy these visits "pre-kids"! It's fun and all with kids but it is exhausting and a lot of work! So TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a fan of your mom's blog - this is my first visit to yours. Your photos are fantastic! I love the picture of the dog in the water with I don't know who (a man). That's adorable, really.

It was an aweful workout...and I did it again this morning! I would much rather be playing volleyball, do you ever get the chance to play?
